JR Resigns as the Head of Be'er Sheva Conservatory
JR will be leaving his position as the Director of the Be'er Sheva Conservatory after 7 years of service with a celebratory 'Friends of the Conservatory' concert. Read his full statement below.
“I am so grateful to have had the chance to work as the head of Be'er Sheva Conservatory. I started with a vision to grow this institution into a center of classical music education of the highest quality. I knew there was a lot of musically talented kids in Be'er Sheva and I wanted them to have the same level of education as in Jerusalem or Tel Aviv.
Throughout the years, I had the opportunity to use my personal contacts to bring international world-class musicians to teach master-classes and perform at the Conservatory.
To give the students the best possible environment in which to thrive and succeed, we added a new Steinway & Sons grand piano to the school and founded multiple chamber ensembles. These and other initiatives have resulted in more students at the school, and in Be'er Sheva students winning national competitions. I am very proud of all that we succeeded in doing and hugely grateful to our beautiful municipality, office staff, and teaching staff who supported me in this process.
Unfortunately, time and energy are limited, and recently the tensions between managing a school, performing, touring, recording and my personal life based in Spain became too high. This is why I've decided to resign from my position as director. I leave content with the shape the Conservatory is in and excited to dedicate myself fully to performing in years to come. Come celebrate with me at the Friends of the Be'er Sheva Conservatory Concert on December 19th.”
